First, I want to thank the developers for all their hard work. jpilot is an excellent product that I have had the pleasure of using for several years on several different systems. I recently did a fresh install of Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) and brought in jpilot 0.99.9.17, the one offered from the standard repository. My /home partition is unchanged from my previous system (KUbuntu Gutsy, 7.10), so my old configuration files, etc., are being used by the new version. I also installed jppy, just to try it out. The install gave no error messages, but when I tried to activate the plugin jppy, jpilot died. I suspect it segfaulted, but I do not know that for sure. Surprisingly, I was able to activate jppy from the command line, and it seemed to work ok, but I didn't use it. Today, I tried to export my contacts list, but jpilot died. Suspecting some connection with jppy, I un-installed jppy (completely). Same problem. When I started jpilot from the command line, I saw the error message: segfault. Specifically: Start jpilot from the command line, got to contacts, then file->export. Choose vCard, give it the name jp.vcf, hit OK. The window disappears and the shell indicates "Segmentation fault". There are no other error messages. If I try to export my contacts in .txt form, it does not segfault, but I get many stanzas that look like the following: Address: exported from J-Pilot on 05/09/08 07:06PM Category: Unfiled Private: No phoneLabel1: 4 phoneLabel2: 4 phoneLabel3: 2 phoneLabel4: 3 phoneLabel5: 4 showPhone: 6 Show Phone: 6 and a similar (useless) file happens when I attempt csv export. Operations such as sync, backup, display, find, all seem to work normally. I am assuming these errors are related. I would appreciate any help in tracking them down.
