I was coming from a different angle. If you had a version of J-Pilot which you know worked with your PDA, why did you go and upgrade it? This isn't Windows, so there is no reason to constantly upgrade like that. When things are working in Linux, you can generally leave them alone. If you see a new version that fixes a bug _that affects you_ (this is important), or adds a feature _that you would use_, then upgrading is something you'll want to do, otherwise it's not necessary to upgrade to new versions. I know it sounds somewhat counter-intuitive if you come from a Windows background, but constantly having the latest and greatest versions of every single package on Linux, is really unnecessary when things are working fine on your system. -- David A.
