Not sure what you downloaded, but it's probably not a great idea to install
whatever it is. Pilot-dedupe is part of pilot-link. If you have a reasonably
recent version of pilot-link installed correctly, you should already have
pilot-dedupe. The simple way to determine this is to open a shell window and type
which pilot-dedupe
...which should give you the path to the installed program if it is on your
system. Alternatively, just type
pilot-dedupe --help
which, if it is installed, should say something like
I, tortellino > pilot-dedupe --help
Removes duplicate records from any Palm database
Usage: pilot-dedupe -p <port> dbname [dbname] ..
-o <hostname> -a <ip> -n <subnet>
Options:
-p, --port <port> Use device file <port> to communicate with Palm
-h, --help Display help information for pilot-dedupe
-v, --version Display pilot-dedupe version information
Examples: pilot-dedupe -p /dev/pilot AddressDb
If you don't have pilot-dedupe installed, your pilot-link installation is
probably broken. An Ubuntu expert should help you fix it, don't just go
installing stuff over it.
Cheers,
Carlo
