    Hi, I'm new.

To say I haven't had much luck with my 700p and linux would be very
charitable. After putzing around for too long, I finally broke down and
read the instructions [jeers from imaginary crowd]. Oddly enough, that
got jpilot working (esp w/ usb:).

I'm really curious about file transfer. When checking out other
solutions, I came to discover that the devices don't want to `see'
anything that isn't in a native Palm format. This is a real joy when
trying to load up my SD card with mp3's and whatever else.

There doesn't appear to be a solution to this now. I've tried running
Palm desktop in Wine, as well as everything else I could find. I even
tried Palm desktop in an XP virtual machine; it recognized the Treo when
I plugged it in but did not react to the sync at all.

There was another Win program called something like PFB that had a Win
component and a Palm .prc, which transferred anything I wanted to either
internal or card. It did nothing with sync - just file xfer. I'll try
that under linux too, but I'm not expecting much.

    Am I missing something?

Thanks for the list and the well-written program.
