[jp] Error Message upon syncing

Dear All,

    I'm a new treo owner, the Treo 755p, and I'm relatively new to linux 
as well. I'm using Sabayon Linux and J-Pilot 0.99.9. When I try to sync 
my treo, I get the following error message:

pi_bind error: /dev/pilot No such file or directory
Check your serial port and settings
Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_BIND
Finished

What does this error message mean, and how do I proceed from here?
