    $ uname -r

                                  (Ubuntu GNU/Linux with GNOME desktop)

    $ ls -l /dev/ttyS0
    crw-rw-rw- 1 root dialout 4, 64 2007-10-31 09:22 /dev/ttyS0

    ls -l /dev/pilot
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2007-10-31 09:15 /dev/pilot -> /dev/ttyS0

    J-Pilot 0.99.9

    J-Pilot  File -> Preferences -> Settings
                     Serial port:  /dev/ttyS0

    PROBLEM:
    When "J-Pilot SYNCH your palm to the desktop" buttom is pressed and when "PALM synch buttom" is pressed (order is not important):

    PALM message after few seconds: "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop was lost. Some of your data was not backed up. Please check your setup and try again"

    And the "Messages area of J-Pilot" after several seconds is:

    ****************************************
     Syncing on device /dev/ttyS0
     Press the HotSync button now
    ****************************************
    dlp_ReadSysInfo error
    Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_PI_CONNECT
    Finished

    I couldn't find any help on the web.
