    The visor module is USB, and libusb is USB (bypassing the need for the
    visor module). 
    
    The distros aren't using libusb by default, because I asked them not to,
    not until we're absolutely sure it doesn't cause a problem with the Palm
    devices we support, or with the data contained on them. 
    
    Would you like to sync your device with the default of libusb, only to
    find that your particular device had a communication bug that caused it
    to erase all data? I certainly wouldn't, so we're phasing it in, and
    when it becomes stable, the distros will flip over to that by default.
