Oh, no. I didn't realize that when I was doing the step-by-step diagnostics my PDA was not plugged in to the computer at all. For steps 1-4, I don't think anything is different. For step 5, when I press the hotsync button on the PDA, I get the following printout "tail -f /var/log/messages": May 23 21:11:06 jc-amd kernel: [134351.068000] usb 1-3: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 2 May 23 21:11:06 jc-amd kernel: [134351.272000] usb 1-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice May 23 21:12:01 jc-amd kernel: [134406.608000] usb 1-3: USB disconnect, address 2 Thanks.
