I've just tried doing the "tail -f /var/log/messages" procedure. When
I pressed the sync button on my PDA, nothing new is "printed" on the
    terminal.

     Next, I tried
    pilot-xfer -p usb: --list.

    I got this error message:
"The program 'pilot-xfer' is currently not installed. You can install
it by typing: sudo apt-get install pilot-link. Make sure you have the
    'universe' component enabled"

According to my "Add/Remove Applications" program, I have pilot-link
installed, so why is it telling me that I don't have pilot-link?

I hope to review the link TR emailed on this list for more help
(http://www.pilot-link.org/README.libusb), but if you can help, it
    would be appreciated.

    JC
