That tip works perfectly without any "USER" initiated previous steps
on Ubuntu Feisty with my Treo680.  It does NOT work on previous
versions of Ubuntu.  It appears that the Ubuntu developers have once
again done something "interesting" without considering the consequences
or notifying folks who should have been told (David, Judd, etc.)
