    Charlie,

No problem. We all are so inundated by mail list messages that we
sometimes read too quickly for full understanding.

This box is several years old and does not know from bluetooth at all.

It must be related somehow to the 2.6 kernels. My fiancee's ThinkPad 600E
is still running the 2.4.33 kernel and her Palm PDA syncs via USB with no
problems. Her former Handspring Visor Pros also worked just fine.

On my workstation/server with the 2.6 kernel, sync via a serial port
(which my vintage-2001 Kyocera QCP-6035 uses) has also worked with no
problems. The Treo is the first USB-connected PDA I've tried. Perhaps
someone makes a USB->serial adapter and I can try that instead. (I have a
serial->USB adapter, but I want the reverse that allows me to plug a USB
cable end into a serial port.)
