That may be correct.. if your Palm (using Contacts, remember) has things
like birthdays, IM name, Anniversary, second address info, etc.. there
may be 1,268 records, but Address Book (which is unable to read that
extra data), may only see 350.

Or something else may be amiss. So here's how to check:

    1. Get FileZ from nosleep.net, install it. Delete AddressDB.pdb,
    DatebookDB.pdb, MemoDB.pdb and ToDoDB.pdb from the device.

    2. Verify that the OS5 equivalents of these applications still holds the
amount of data you expect (launch Contacts, Calendar, Memo Pad and
    Tasks).

    3. Go to your main Palm launcher screen (not a third-party launcher),
and go to Menu -> Info -> Records. Scroll down to Contacts, and see how
many records _PalmOS_ reports. Palm lists 88 records on my version.
FileZ lists it as 82,944b/87 recs.

    4. While in FileZ, verify that you do NOT have AddressDB, etc. on the
device (you just deleted them in Step 1.)

    5. Reset the device using the reset pin (if your device has one, newer
Treo devices do not), or by simply pulling the battery and replacing
    it.

    6. When the device boots back up, launch FileZ again _before_ going to
any of those applications, and see if you now have AddressDB, etc. on
    the device.

    7. If you do, verify the count of records between AddressDB and
ContactsDB-PAdd to see if they're the same.

    8. Now use pilot-xfer to install AddressDB onto the device and see if
    that works.
