    Typically /dev/pilot is linked to some device.  It is just a default 
    name to jpilot to look for.
    
    Depending on your OS!  You might find that your OS is using "udev"
    which means (at least with SuSE) that your device is controlled by udev.
    Do you have "lsusb"?  If yes, test it before you plug in your device, 
    then plug it in a try "lsusb".  You should see it in the list.
    Next try (for sure in SuSE) "hwinfo --usb"  - look for the device name
    and with luck it will tell you the device name - like 
    /dev/input/devicename.  Also you may not have "visor" module loaded.
    try "lsmod | grep visor".  If not try "modprobe visor".
    Try all of this again.
