I have been pretty frustrated with the current printing state of JPilot,
but have never gotten to fix all the underlying Postscript backend
    problems. See the long-standing bug
    http://bugs.pilot-link.org/view.php?id=1447
    on the jpilot bugs list.

Today I hacked up an independent program to format directly from the PDB,
and format it for typesetting via latex and bibtex. The very same
latex macro package I output bib data for is able to access the same
data for address labels extraction, embedding portions of the data into
    letters etc.

    Download my script from http://www.tarunz.org/~vassilii/pub/#pilot
along with the docs. The homepage of the
excellent "directory" macro package, http://www.geuz.org/directory/ ,
contains instructions on installing it as well as gives a tiny glimpse of
the possibilities of the output (basically, there is a huge flexibility in
what it looks like due to both the directory package customization
abilities and the general LaTeX flexibility).

This is the first time I am finally satisfied how the printed
contacts look since I abandoned Windows on desktop several years
ago (and hence switched to jpilot from the palm desktop+outlook, which
printed the contacts so much nicer than jpilot). The example format driver
(i.e., basically, a stylesheet in Latex)
document I am using is part of my script manpage; I'll be happy to try out
others' formats or maybe even make a generator of formats. Drop me a line
if you've written one, or just if you want to share your impressions
    having tried my script.
