I fooled around with the browser cache, and this is the error message which i 
fed
into my usual search engine
pango_font_get_glyph_extents called with bad font, expect ugly output

then my solution was installing emul-linux-x86-gtklibs

but others found that they needed symlinks
i recall they are something to with 32 bit and 64 bit libraries
