Oh - you gotta run that modprobe cmd as root. -TR ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: Re: [jp] how to sync my palm on my ubuntu-based distro Date: Tuesday 05 September 2006 20:00 From: TR <tmst at nethere.com> To: J-Pilot Discussion List <jpilot at jpilot.org> Doing the udev thing is what really needs to be done. However, as a quickie fix, I suggest you simply run the following at the command prompt: $> modprobe visor You'll have to rerun it if you reboot. But it worked for me and it's simple and harmless. Also, you might try simply entering "/dev/ttyUSB1 into JPilot, thus bypassing any problem there might be with permissions, mode, etc of the /dev/pilot link. -TR On Tuesday 05 September 2006 00:25, Elizabeth Dodd wrote: > On Tuesday 05 September 2006 15:25, TR wrote: > > Did you try entering /dev/ttyUSB1 into JPilot? > > > > -TR > > not exactly that; but after a large number of tries I'm up > to /dev/pilot ->/dev/ttyUSB5 > so I went back to /dev/pilot > > wat other file can I check for this? -------------------------------------------------------
