    Try typing in a xterm or at the commandline "lsusb" and confirm that the 
    USB device is being found.  If yes, then check to see if it is truely a 
    /dev/ttyUSB device like "l /dev/ttyUS*".  If it is not found (which your 
    error shows) then try "find / -name ttyUS*"  It may under udev control 
    now and therefore moved.  It may be under /dev/input/ttyUSB
