    Jeff,

At the risk of belaboring David's point, let me second him from a
non-power-user perspective. I've been using Jpilot for years, and have
tried switching to Evolution -- especially now that it accepts memos.
In the end, after a few days with some new version of Evolution, I
switch back to Jpilot. In my experience, Jpilot operates seamlessly
with my PDAs -- first a Palm M125, and now a Tungsten E2. Like you, I'm
using Jpilot on an Ubuntu 6.06.1 machine (laptop). I have yet to get a
flawless sync with Evolution...it always seems to hang at various
points in the process. (And buying Undupe for a whole $10 in round
    numbers was a great investment.)

Beyond that, I appreciate Jpilot's at-a-glance display. If I have notes
attached to an event, I can see them without having to descend into
another layer of an edit-event window (nice for setting up and
adjusting a daily "return phone calls" entry). And while Jpilot is not
integrated with an email client as Evolution is, Sylpheed-Claws (a very
fast, powerful email client) will read Jpilot's contacts data base
    directly.

I can see where Evolution's ability to tie into a corporate network for
group efforts has its attractions. If I needed that capability, I might
be more inclined to endure the PDA hassles I've encountered
with Evolution. But, since I don't...

Now, if someone could only come up with a way to sync JPilot with
my Blackberry, I could ditch my Tungsten! But, hey, the developer is
doing this for love...OK, he probably wouldn't turn down a little
    money. ;-)

    With best regards,

    Pete
