I have recently started to try to use J-Pilot but have experienced some serious problems. I am not new to Linux but I am not an IT or command line expert. My set up is; J-Pilot 0.99.0-pre2 Samsung Q30 plus Ubuntu Dapper Drake (Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS) Linux Kernel 2.6.15-27-386 Generic Palm Treo 650 The software found and linked to my Treo immediately (in the past this has been a real problem for me) and it synchronised well. The desktop gives loads of functionalilty and I was pleased. However, I cannot find a way to link my synchronisation to evolution through the J-Pilot interface. Is this Possible? Ideally I would like to have the data on the Treo shared in both J-pilot and evolution although this would be more than is possible on the Win version. Can this be done? Are there any plans for it? I did a backup and then tried to synchronise the data on the Treo with J-Pilot, evolution and my Win machine and in the process got loads of duplication. Some of it I could deal with through pilot-link and some through Win desktop but some remained so I decided to do a restore from the J-pilot backup. !!******!!!!@!$$$* the problems began! After the restore, I noticed that some of the .prc files were not transferred back (I do not have a full list but one of them was head chain?). The Treo asked me to rest which I did and it then proceeded on an endless loop of rebooting, getting to the Treo desktop then rebooting. After a warm reset I got it to be stable but the phone function could not be started. I had to do a hard reset to restore the phone but in doing that lost all the data. A second attempt showed a different list of files that did not transfer (some were the same) with the same effect. I have stabilised the phone by restoring from Win backup I took but it has then taken me serveral hours to clean out duplicated data etc. Is this something you are aware of and is there a fix? Is it because I am using a Treo and not a simpler Palm device? I assume that using both J-Pilot and evolution synch on the same machine is not a problem? Sorry to go into so much detail but J-Pilot looks to be a good solution and I would like to use it as a replacement for the Win desktop but only if I have the confidence that it is not going to cause me similar problems in the future. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Geoff +44 7770 58 48 38 Mobile Voice +44 7770 58 92 48 Mobile Fax -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
