Hello John! Thank you for replying! As regards configuration, in File / Preferences / Settings I have set the serial port as /dev/ttyUSB1. I have also done the same thing in the Gnome-pilot applet. As recommended in the User Manual, I executed the command "ln -s /dev/ttyUSB1", and also for USB0, since I was not sure which port the programme would use, but in the meantime I deleted J-Pilot and my backup files and I do not know whether that command is still valid or not.
