    Hello all!

There is an interesting thread on the Ubuntu forum about the problems of
    syncing Palms:

    http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=286102&highlight=Sync+Palm+Pilot

In one of the messages I found this link to bug reports concerning the
    kernel:

    https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/39518

The author of the message adds:

"What's happening is the kernel bug triggers a segmentation fault in the
syncing application (whichever one you have) and leaves the USB data in
an inconsistent state (which is why sometimes you see the USB2/3,
    USB4/5, etc. in addition)."

    HTH,

    Eamann
