Hi Jason! (Jack Wallen has just posted a message saying that there is a bug in the kernel of Ubuntu which prevents it from syncing. I have asked him to elaborate.) I'm afraid substituting /dev/ttyUSB1 or USB0 for /dev/pilot did not produce any results. I introduced the install-user command about a dozen times until my Zire said that it could not connect. root at eamann-laptop:/home/eamann# install-user -p /dev/ttyUSB1-u eamann -i 12345 Unable to bind to port: /dev/ttyUSB1-u Please use --help for more information On one occasion however jpilot-sync started up, even though JP was not running: root at eamann-laptop:/home/eamann# install-user -p /dev/ttyUSB1-u eamann -i 12345 Unable to bind to port: /dev/ttyUSB1-u Please use --help for more information root at eamann-laptop:/home/eamann# jpilot-sync **************************************** Syncing on device /dev/pilot Press the HotSync button now When I pressed the button my computer began to whine so I did the following command and killed jpilot-sync. root at eamann-laptop:/home/eamann# ps ax | grep jpilot 7191 pts/0 R+ 3:29 jpilot-sync 7460 pts/1 S+ 0:00 grep jpilot If I were to delete jpilot-sync and rely on pilot-link, would that perhaps solve my problem? Thanks once more for your continuing help!
